Pronto per la registrazione?

Ora dovresti essere pronto per registrare un test di 1 minuto. Registra qualcosa come questo. Questo è stato progettato per assicurarsi che alcune delle consonanti difficili non causino problemi a te ed al tuo microfono.

"La gente è stata contenta di scoprire che il Sig. Peter Piper aveva scelto un paio di pagine per i fan delle favole di LibriVox. Grato che fosse Giovedì trenta, il Sig. Piper ha anticipato il divertimento del forum ed un meraviglioso weekend di registrazione! Questo è un test di (ILTUONOME). Se fosse stato un vero contributo di LibriVox, sarebbe stato un testo di dominio pubblico, precedentemente pubblicato e probabilmente interessante." (Lascia il microfono acceso per 3-5 secondi alla fine, dove non dici nulla.)

(Si noti che questo testo NON dovrebbe riempire un minuto intero di registrazione. Ciò renderebbe la registrazione mooooltooooo leeeeentaaaaa!)

1. Al termine, esamina la forma dell'onda sonora nella finestra di registrazione. Vedi grandi picchi e depressioni, o solo un’oscillazione che tende ad una linea? Il volume adatto dovrebbe avere picchi compresi tra 0,5 e 1 nella finestra, senza colpire la parte superiore o inferiore.
   
   Il volume spesso deve essere regolato. Puoi utilizzare il nostro programma Checker (in inglese) per misurare il volume del tuo MP3. Cerchiamo un volume di circa 89 dB (con un intervallo accettabile di 86-92 db), in modo che vi sia coerenza nelle registrazioni. Potrebbe essere necessario regolare il volume del microfono nel pannello di controllo del computer per ottenere un volume adatto.
2. Ora riproduci la registrazione attraverso le cuffie. C'è rumore di fondo?
   A volte, l'elaborazione del file audio migliorerà la qualità della registrazione. In genere, con la registrazione iniziale di 1 minuto di test è consigliabile inviare un file grezzo e non elaborato, in modo che coloro che lo ascolteranno possano aiutare a valutare l'ambiente di installazione e registrazione. Possono anche suggerire che tipo di elaborazione, e con quali impostazioni, potrebbe aiutare a migliorare la registrazione. Ci sono 2 semplici effetti che sono comunemente utilizzati: Amplifica e Pulizia rumore. 3. Esporta il file in formato MP3. Chiamalo: test_tuonomediforum.mp3.
   1. Non aggiungere l'estensione .mp3 al nome del file =- Audacity lo aggiungerà automaticamente.
   2. Assicurati che non ci siano spazi o lettere MAIUSCOLE nel nome del tuo file: il software del forum non consente spazi, ed è bene prendere l'abitudine di utilizzare tutte le lettere minuscole, in quanto questo è necessario per le registrazioni reali.

Note: If you are using Adobe Audition, please remove all ID tags before uploading. For reasons unknown, the uploader will reject any MP3 produced by Adobe Audition which has ID tags.

1. Upload your test file using the LibriVox uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader. For info on how to use the Uploader, read Uploading).
   1. Do not use your forum login for the Uploader.
   2. The username and password are:

   

   (Note: this is case sensitive, and all the letters are lower case: the l = lower case L. If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin on the forum.)

2. Before you upload, you must select the project MC's name from a list so your file will go to the right folder.
   1. For test files, select "tests--tests" from the uploader's MC drop-down list.
   2. If you do not select a folder in the drop-down menu, the upload will fail.
3. Copy the link it provides when the upload is complete, and post it in a new thread in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum. Please include the recording software (Audacity, Garage Band), operating system (Windows or Mac) and mic type (USB or Analog) you are using in the post as this will help us giving advice that is tailored to your problem.
   1. If you've already claimed a section and your Book Coordinator has asked you to post in the project thread, first post the link above in Listeners and Editors Wanted as above. Then post in the project thread with the URL to the thread you just created. Just ask if you're not sure.
   2. Don't forget to post the link to your test in the forum - if you don't, no one will know that you have uploaded your test!
4. Be sure to get feedback. It may take a day or two for a response. You might need to upload another test or two to get things set up right, but once you get things set up, you're generally good to go from there! Potential feedback issues include:

• are the settings correct?
• is the input volume OK? (too soft? too loud?)
• do you have "plosives"? (is your breath hitting the mic and making nasty noises?)
• do you have a hum? a buzz? dc offset? hiss? (there could be many reasons for these things, but don't worry, there is lots of help available to help you fix it!)
• too much noise? (there are many types of noise, and we can help in a variety of ways to reduce the noise in your recording)

Example 1 Minute Test Responses and Other Help References

It may look like a long process, but it is worth going through the steps and getting the feedback early. :) It's horrible to find you've recorded a whole chapter that can't be used because it's got unfixable technical problems! Also, many of the steps above are the same as you'll use to submit files to projects. So it's a good way to practice with our system, too. Good luck!
