There's a PD version of Wyllie's Metamorphosis ... we should probably give a less ambiguous example!

Are you sure - it was published in 2002... --Carl Manchester 23:10, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Jan 5, 2013 - changed the Life+[#] "death on or before" years from 1941/1961/etc. to 1942/1962/etc. due to the change in the current calendar year. --TriciaG

Jan 16 2013 admin rg changed these paragraphs:

Literary works of Japanese origin whose authors died on or before 31st December 1955 are in the public domain in the United States.

Literary works of Japanese origin first published on or before 31st December 1955, where the author is anonymous or the publication is posthumous, are in the public domain in the United States.

The US copyright status of works of Japanese origin published after 31st December 1922 is unclear. Extensive research has so far failed to identify an authoritative answer to this question, and hence they may not be recorded for LibriVox at this time.

Note from MaryAnn - March 9, 2014. Some of the content of this page has been incorporated into the "Copyright and Public Domain" page. The rest has been deleted because the admin team can't determine the accuracy of country specific copyright rules and has decided to take a simplified approach to determining whether a work is in the PD in the U.S. and therefore may be recorded for Librivox. This simplified approach is fully described on the "Copyright and Public Domain" page.
